Professor Ho graduated from NTU with a B.S. degree in chemical engineering in 1966. He than completed his advanced studies at the University of Illionois at Urbana-Champaign with a MS degree in 1969 and a Ph.D. degree in 1971. He is now the University Scholar Professor at the department of Chemical Engineering, Ohio State University.

Professor Ho is an expert in molecularly based separations including definition of approaches, design of practical systems, scale-up and commercialization. His research interests are in membranes and separations including polymer and liquid membranes, fuel-cell fuel processing and membranes, separations with chemical reaction, supported liquid membranes, reverse osmosis, gas treating, pervaporation, and facilitated transport.

Professor Ho is a member of the National Academy of Engineering (USA, 2002) and fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (2009). He has received numerous awards, including the Excellence and Appreciation Award (2009, 2000), the Clarence G. Gerhold Award (2007),the Institute Award for Excellence in Industrial Gases Technology (2006), Inaugural Innovators Award (OSU, 2008), etc. He is the author or co-author of more than 120 papers and books and 77 patents.
